Hungry Planet
Hungry Planet showcases how scientists and communities are working to keep food on our plates for generations to come.
This six-episode food science show is hosted on PBS Digital Studio’s YouTube channel ‘Terra’ and was funded by the National Science Foundation to reach female, Latino, and Black audiences.
In each episode, friend and host Niba (a plant scientist) chats with scientists about how we use science to grow staple foods in extreme climates, enhance flavor, and fight diseases, and community members about their work to ensure equitable access to food.
Hungry Planet is a show created by Alex Dainis of Helicase Media and co-produced with STEMedia. Alex and I were 2019 Jackson Wild Media Fellows and became close friends through that experience. Working alongside her was a great pleasure, as our skill sets complemented each other.
